S’moreanne cupcakes

I interrupted my January detox to bake for the boyfriend’s birthday. He requested S’moreanne cupcakes from Cake Days, Hummingbird’s recipe book.

I also discovered what “2/3 of the case” means. I filled these nice big cases too much, and the batter eventually erupted in the oven.

Still, I managed to save almost all of them..

And here’s the final result. This cupcake is nothing like I’ve ever tasted: the sponge almost has the texture of a souffle, and the icing is replaced by a puffy, marshmallow-y  meringue. Overall it is a bit too rich and heavy but very pleasant.
