Today I had my second ever taste of hot cross buns, and my first ever attempt at making them. I religiously followed Rachel Demuth’s recipe published on Great British Chefs‘ blog and they came out so good that I had to ask my boyfriend not to eat them all before I took pictures!
We accompanied them with a selection of jelly and jams bought from Jill’s Natural Preserves at Borough Market. Particularly indicated was the hedgerow jelly, which added extra depth to the spices, but I also enjoyed the award winning* Cointreau and Seville orange marmalade with its slight bitterness.
